I think one of the struggles that we can encounter in life is to remain faithful to God.
I always tell myself that “I am in the world, but I am not of the world.”, but it just saddens me whenever I see articles or posts about youths indulging themselves in lust, or being overpowered by depression.
As His sons and daughters, abstinence is very important. It is not just about the physical aspect but it also means keeping yourself from lust-related stories, movies, thoughts, etc. It doesn’t just pollute your mind but also your spirit. We should all be careful with whatever we do in our day-to-day life, because this will reflect in our spirit. If our spirit and life is renewed, then we should not turn back from it. Remember that your soul is now in the arms of God, and tainting it is not a good idea. I believe that staying pure and waiting is such a beautiful thing. These things will not be hard if we know our ground, and if we know where we are rooted in. The devil is every where; when you feel that you’re close to being tempted, pray and ask God for wisdom. Start thinking about how good it is to be in God’s presence, and start worshipping Him to confuse the devil.
Depression is one of the scariest battles that one could encounter. All of us, at some point, have experienced being depressed, only in different levels or weight. It shouldn’t be a reason for us to stop. There’s always something better after every mountain that you face. Just because today is not good, that doesn’t mean your tomorrow will also be the same. Our God works with the impossible, and if you are grounded in Him then you know that all things work together for good. If you feel depressed because of work, school, or whatever personal reason you have, just close your eyes for a moment… and think about the good things that happened in your life: think about the years that you surpassed; think about the goodness of God; think about the prayers that He answered. I tell you what, God didn’t brought you this far to leave you just like that.
What I want to say is we should just keep our eyes focused on Jesus, and Him alone. No need to look back; no need to be scared or afraid. His love will cast our all fear, and His grace is sufficient. It doesn’t matter what situation you’re in, may it be of lust or depression, God is above everything—no need to be overwhelmed by the things that surrounds you.
I want you to imagine being in a race: when you are running, you focus on the finish line and not on your opponents. Same goes with this life, you focus on being with Jesus and the plan that He has for you, and not on the struggles or temptations that comes along your way.
God’s love should be enough to pull you through anything because there is no chain His love can’t break.
Of everything in between,
